a)You will  receive updates about national events and bulletins which are circulated by BBKA and NBU via Mark Dasey  (Membership and Communications Secretary).  Occasionally these will be circulated by Cumbria Beekeepers Area Association by Peter Weatherall.

b) You will receive updates and reminders about the PDBKA Programme and Branch Meeting arrangements via Margaret Riches (Chair) , circulated by Mark Dasey

PDBKA encourages its members to:

  • obtain stocks of bees from local sources to minimise the spread of disease and to ensure that strains are suitable for the Cumbrian weather conditions.
  • register with Bee Base which provides the bee inspectors with information which is vital for their role in making their inspections when they have been notified of the presence of disease in particular areas and provides you with updates on bee husbandry issues.  Please register asap if you have not already done so by visiting the NBU website: www.nationalbeeunit.com

Membership Badges

PBKA Membership Badges for the 2026 Membership Year are available for you to download from the Members Section of the web site. It has been created from a Word Document. You need to type/ write your own name into the blank space.

You only need to have a membership badge to show at the entrance to Acorn Bank if you attend any of the branch meetings at the apiary May – September.

PBKA has small ‘badge size’ plastic wallets for you to use to laminate your badge to give it ‘all weather’ protection and ensure that it can be attached to your bee suit with a safety pin.  The wallets will be available at ‘face to face’ branch meetings between Jan – April or if you prefer, you can send Margaret a sae and she will post one to you.  Address: 16, Byrnes Close, Plumpton,  Penrith, CA11 9PE.

N.B. Make sure that you cover the plastic wallet with a cotton handkerchief / or something similar, before you apply the iron to the plastic to turn it into a laminate surface.
